Any symptoms?: Given your age and underlying medical problems including diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease, i would caution undergoing any surgical procedure unless clearly warranted. If the gallbladder stone was picked up by chance and you otherwise have no symptoms, surgery is not necessary . Surgery does risk worsening of your kidney disease. Ultimately, i would take the advice of your surgeon.

Maybe yes maybe no: It all depends on whether or not you are symptomatic. If you are having abdominal pain, nausea, or fever, you may benefit from surgery. If your only problem with your gallbladder is the presence of a 5 mm stone, then surgery is not warranted.
