No, not really: Sounds like you do need the operation. Gallstones can be tiny or even bigger than 3cm. Actually, the tiny ones are more dangerous because they can pass out of the gallbladder into the common bile duct and cause jaundice. Gallbladder removal used to require a big operation with a long scar. Now, most are done laparoscopically which is simple and safe and you are home in a day. Peter wilk, md.
