Yes it can: Sinus tachycardia can be physiological and can start and last for several hours, but there usually is a trigger like anxiety, panick, caffeine, prescription and over the counter meds and hyperactive thyroid and anemia as well if it is recurrent and/or persistant than you need to have blood test and ekg etc to find the cause and treat.
