What tests do drs use to see if there are electrical problems with the heart?

ECG, plus . . .: Holter monitor, and stress tests while being monitored. There are also functional tests that evaluate the pumping adequacy, and diagnostic tests such as scans, ultrasound studies, radioisotope studies, and others. See a cardiologist or start with your family doctor.

ECG and Holter test.: The ECG (electrocardiogram) and the 24 hour holter monitor test are the initial tests. If problems are identified, an invasive electrophysiologic heart test (an "ep study") might be performed for diagnostic and therapeutic correction purposes. Cardiologists who specialize in this area are called "electrophysiologists".
