See a lung doctor: I think it is worthwhile seeing a pulmonologist to have a pulmonary function test. This might be helpful in terms of isolating the cause of your symptoms.

See an allergist: The most common causes of chronic breathing problems in the us (after eliminating a post nasal drip and reflux) are asthma and copd. If you never smoked i would bet you have asthma. If you have/had a long smoking history then think COPD although both asthma and COPD can occur. Post nasal drip and gerd are causes that can co-exist with asthma.
