Achilles tendonitis?: If your pain is in the back of your heel by the tendon, you may have achilles tendonitis. Use a heel lift in your shoe, rest, and take advil (ibuprofen). If you see no improvement, see a podiatrist or orthopedist.

X-rays: Can be normal particularly if you have a fascial, tendon or nerve problem. Not all heel pain is a "spur". Stretching, possible arch suppo/orthotic and prescription meds are probably better treatments then the ones you have been self prescribing.
