Call your dentist: This is not normal and should be followed up with a call to your dentist to evaluate your current oral health, especially your periodontal status.

Infection: Saliva will change in consistency depending on how healthy the mouth and body are. Bleeding indicates infection, and even if you had a deep cleaning 2 months ago, if you have not been truly taking good care of your teeth, the infection will start again. It is not harmful to swallow, but again indicates that there is a likelihood of gum disease reactivating. See your dentist to have it checked.

Not harmful!: Are you drinking enough water? Are you using a mouthwash with alcohol? A yes to either and you may have low-quality saliva that needs water to be re-hydrated. The bleeding can be a reaction to a alcohol-based mouthwash, over-zealous brushing, or flossing too hard (or more than once daily). One needs to brush for two minutes, not scrub. Using a sonicare toothbrush helps to control both!
