How long should you use the rice method before it's deemed uneffective?

Varies: Rice (rest ice compression elevation) is an initial treatment for many injuries, however, it us the nature of the injury that determines how long it takes to heal or whether it needs other treatment.

4-7 days if acute: Rice is very effective for sprains and initial swelling right after and for 4-7 days following injuries/ surgeries when done correctly and not contraindicated.
