Ask about VATS: The majority of lung resections can now be performed with minimally invasive techniques. Ask your surgeon about thoracoscopy (vats) - it usually leads to less pain and faster recovery.

Important things: Important things to do while in the hospital after surgery: 1. Walk 4 times a day, 2. Sit out of bed and in a chair for all meals, 3. Use the incentive spirometer 10x per hour. 4. Cough and deep breathe.
