Not by itself: There is impact created by jump rope exercises. This does not necessarily mean more calories are burned. A variety of aerobic and strengthening exercises may be more effective.

Effective!: Jump rope is a very convenient, great calorie-burner. It strengthensĀ the upper and lower body and burns a lot of calories in a short time. You can count reps of 50-200 or count minutes. Not so easy to keep going for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. You can incorporate it into your other exercise routine like brisk walking or running. Jump rope is said to burn 11-20 calories/min.
