Track food intake: Keep a food diary and see where you can cut out foods with a lot of calories but little or no nutritional value, like sugary sodas, sweets, and animal fats. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Eat healthy snacks. Cut down on portion sizes. Don't completely deprive yourself of foods you like or you may be tempted to overindulge. Moderation is the way to go.
