Many: It would depend on why you are in a wheelchair, what your overall health is and your nutritional status. Being in a wheelchair is goin to cause muscle not used to become weaker and weaker. You may begin to experience breakdown of skin and underlying tissues. You may develop pressure ulcers, pressure neuropathy and general debility. Be as active as your can and keep in touch with your pcp.

Several: It is important to relieve pressure on your back side(buttock area) if you are in a wheelchair. If you have adequate strength in your arms, you can do a "wheelchair pushup" that allows circulation back to your buttock area and prevents pressuresores. Iftoo much time is spent in the wheelchair without changing positions, contractures which is shortening of the muscle tendons can occur in hips, knee.
