Is there any way post partum depression can be prevented? is there anything that can be done to prevent the onset of post partum depression?

Yes: There are many risk factors for postpartum depression. To get a good sense of your risk, i would recommend you seek a consultation with a reproductive psychiatrist or a good general psychiatrist if one is not available in your area. There are interventions that can decrease the risks. Most importantly, if you have it, to get treatment right away as it presents risks to you and your baby's growth.
