A member asked:

Promithazine 3 months past expiration. will it hurt me? i took two small sips to help with my throat and i was wondering how long it will sedate me

Dr. Ronald Li answered

Most likely not: Most medications will still be effective beyond the listed expiration date, but in general they should be discarded and not used beyond the expiration date. Sedation from Promethazine will usually occur within a few hours after it is ingested.
