Please see a dentist: It could be an infection, an abscess, a wisdom tooth erupting, a wisdom tooth root fragment which was not removed upon removal of the wisdom tooth, among other things. It is wisest to see a dentst to determine which it can be.

Pericironitis: It is most likely a wisdom tooth infection called pericoronits. This is an infection of the gum behind the wisdom tooth. This often occurs because the flap of gum behind the wisdom tooth traps food, plaque and bacteria. The warm dark place acts as a good breeding ground for bacteria. Antibiotics, along with rinsing with hot water are first. Extract the tooth is second.
