For moms who get pregnant later in life, is gastroshisis more likely in their children?

Less likely: Studies out of florida (1998-2005 data) showed a relative increased risk for mothers under 20yo and less risk for those over 30. Average rates were 3.3/10, 000 births with <20yo up over 5/10, 000. The reasons for this effect is unclear.

No: Gastroschisis is not associated with advanced maternal age.

No: We actually see more gastroschisis in teenage pregnancies.
