Why not: Bleach is very effective. As are many of the "oxygenated, " non-bleach, laundry additives. Very hot water also helps.

Yes: Yes, clean with detergent, in hot water with bleach. Should be ok. But eventually the underclothing will wear out. But that is true of all clothing, isn't it?
