Are there non-cancerous liver tumors?

Yes.: There are many different kinds of tumors that can develop in the liver, of which many are benign. Various tests such as ct scans and ultrasounds can give us an idea of whether a tumor is benign or malignant; when in doubt, a (non surgical) biopsy can be performed for definitive diagnosis.

Yes: The three common non-cancerous liver tumors are hemangiomas (blood vessel abnormalities), focal nodular hyperplasia, and adenomas. Adenomas are not dissimilar to fibroadenomas of the breast as they are hormonally responsive and can be symptomatic during a woman's cycle and particular symptomatic in woman with endometriosis or on certain bcp. Alhtough benign, adenomas should be evaluated.
