A member asked:

Does liver cancer mean the same as a liver tumor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not always...: Not all liver tumors/masses are malignant. Some liver tumors are benign (such as liver hemangiomas which are benign mass-ike collections of small blood vessels). "liver cancer" can be a primary growth in the liver (one that started in the liver), or "liver cancer" can represent spread from another body site (metastasis). Ask your physician to clarify terms and to be specific about word meanings.
