Surgery: Cardiac echo is also used in surgery by trained anesthesiologists. Specifically during heart valve surgery of in patients at high risk for cardiac disease. Anesthesiologist can an should take the abe exam if they are making diagnostic interpretations however and not just using it as an introperative monitor.

In the setting pediatrics, it may be performed by a pediatric cardiologist or someone who specializes in fetal imaging.
