Not : Not really. What a lot of people do it clip away the corner, which gives them some temporary relief. But the more this is done, the worse the nail tends to grown in, so it's a bad temporary "fix" at best. What is your aversion to getting them fixed? The procedure is fast, painless and easy. There is no disability, you can wear your regular shoes right away, and there is no pain afterward. I should add... There are only two reasons to "fix" an ingrown toenail: 1) pain and 2) infection. Since right now, you have neither, there is no rush to have this done. But in time, you know it's going to start barking at you. The next time it does, why not just fix 'em?

Removal...: ...Is the only permanent solution. Just the painful border can be removed, or the entire nail if necessary. After removal you can let the border grow out again, or your doctor can use a chemical to stop the nail from regrowing. If you're concerned, don't perform bathroom surgery on yourself. That can lead to an infected ingrown toenail, which could require antibiotics.
