I get a lot of pain when i press in and under the ball of my foot where my big toe ends. it doesn't cause pain when i walk or run. what could cause it?

Could be arthritis: The big toe is a common site of degenerative arthritis but could also be from sprain/strain, mechanical or alignment problems. Ask your doctor. Also, a rheumatologist or podiatrist may be helpful.
