Close follow up: What was the mechanism on "cautery"..? I would follow closely with the clinician that performed the original procedure. There is a good chance that the toe is infected and you would benefit from warm soaks, oral antibiotics and possibly complete avulsion of the remaining nail plate ! -dr. H-.

Have it evaluated.: Pain and swelling may last a long time following toe nail surgery. Have it evaluated and make sure that it is not getting infected.
