Back : Back pain may be caused by bone, disk, muscle, joint, ligament, nerve, spinal cord and other organ systems. Some people have severe back pain with minimal changes on MRI while other patients have severe changes on MRI without any back pain. Therefore there is poor correlation between MRI and pain. The steroids help reduce inflammation but do not usually make quick structural changes you would see on spine mri. I would recommend seeing an interventional pain doctor for considering steroid injections. Good luck!
