Possible : Hi, there are 3 queries asked. 1) an MRI of the groin will show the joints the soft tissues ; also the respective part of the pelvis; abdomen. 2) usually indicated to assess the joints for orthopedic probs3) could be a hernia. My guess is that ur doc is trying to figure out if the pain is coming from the joint or a possible hernia. Hope this helps.

Possible hernia: Groin or abdominal pain can be a sign of a hernia; inguinal hernia being the most common. These hernias are often but not always associated with a bulge in the region. The important 1st test is physical examination as hernias can often be detected on exam alone. Imaging studies such as MRI ; ct scan can evaluate in more detail bone muscle tendon (MRI) and internal organs (ct) to aid the diagnosis.
