Hello. : Hello. You can't be diagnosed via an email format. There are a number of conditions which can make a person feel very low. Even a person who is depressed can feel happy some of the time. First issue, is that drugs or alcohol can really play havoc with a person's emotions. Depression can often present wtih symptoms like: eating too much or too little; sleeping too much or not enough; feeling helpless or hopeless, feeling unrealistic guilt, poor concentration and memory, not liking one self as much or feeling worthless, feeling sad, angry scared or anxious and difficulty experiencing joy. In bipolar disorder, an individual also has times when they either sleep very little or don't sleep, think rapidly, speak rapidly, have really high energy, become very productive and may take risks borderline personality disorder can lead to marked mood changes. Please don't try to diagnose yourself. Clearly with thoughts of suicide and giving up, you need professional help. There is really great treatment available and life can get better. Take care and please make the next step and get help.

Get help now: Please get in-person help with a psychiatrist or psychologist for these concerns asap. Your family doctor can help get you started. The way you're thinking about yourself shows un-health, and thoughts of suicide are definitely danger signs. You'll need a full evaluation to determine what's happening and to develop effective plans to help you with it -- we can't do this via healthtap.
