Not : Not necessarily. If he develops a temperature of 104 or more, he should go to the er. Severe abdominal pain is another reason to go to the er. If he has fluid losses via vomiting or diarrhea and becomes dehydrated that would be another indication. If dry heaving does not resolve that is another reason. He can try slowly sipping slightly flat gingerale when the dry heaves take a break. Other options would be nibbling on crystalized ginger or drinking ginger tea. Pour boiling water over freshly sliced organic ginger and steep for at least five minutes before sipping.
