A member asked:

When should i see a doctor about a suspected boil? at what point is a boil serious enough that i should be seeking medical treatment?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If : If the boil is causing you discomfort, or is growing, painful, causing streaking red marks away from the original site, than you should be seen by a medical provider. Many times, just draining the boil will be enough to take care of the problem. Other times, oral and topical antibiotics are required. Quick care, your general medical doctor or a dermatologist should be able to take care of the problem.
