Pain from swelling: The pain is from the swelling of the boil. You didn't mention where in the nose the boil was located. In any case, it is inflamed, and this will cause the pain. You can call your pcp office to get the best advice and give her/him the boil's location. Since it must drain, refrain from using Ibuprofen for now. It may cause more bruising later or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.(discoloration).
