You : You need to get checked out promptly especially if you had no discomfort or pain with urinating when you saw the blood. Blood in the urine without pain can be a symptom of bladder or kidney cancer. See your doctor to get a urine test and plan further testing.

Blood : Blood that is visible in the urine (rather than just under the microscope) almost always warrants a thorough evaluation, especially if it is painless. Unless it is associated with an obvious cause, such as a catheter placement, or symptomatic bladder infection you should be seen by a urologist. This is one of the most common things that we see in our clinic. The evaluation will look for benign things such as kidney stones, bladder stones, or an enlarged prostate, as well as worrisome things such as kidney or bladder cancers - all of which can present with visible blood in the urine. Often a cause is not found, but the primary goal of the evaluation is to rule out worrisome things.
