Pain : Pain can come from a lot of sources. Stiffness can cause pain as you reach the limits of your lessened arc of motion. Weakness can also be a source of pain as the injured muscle struggles to "keep up" wit the opposite side limb despite lessened endurance and power from the injury. This is often the case after achilles tendon rupture. It seems it takes a long time (longer than you'd think it ought to!) to recover and many folks are never quite as strong as they are on the other side. These are common issues, but may not be yours, as each case is different. If you still have concerns or are not satisfied with your progress, you should return to your surgeon for he/she to address your questions and concerns.

Up to a year: Achilles tendon ruptures can take up to a year to recover. Physical therapy can help with the pain and muscle weakness. Persistant pain and disability after a year is cause for concern and reevaluation by your surgeon.
