8-10 weeks: Usually a complete tear will require about 8 weeks to heal after it is repaired surgically after that it may take another 4-6 months of rehabilitation to regain motion, strength and gradually return to running and sporting activities.

Progressive: Different surgeons have varying protocols which all may be acceptable. Usually there is some form of immobilization for close to 3 months. By 6 months most patients are able to resume most of there activities but it can easily take a year to be "fully recovered".
