Schmorl's : Schmorl's nodes are disk herniation into the vertebral bone and may suggest end plate weakness and the possibly of fracture or movement of the cage/bone graft into the bone after surgery. The best way to determine bone strength is through DEXA scan. These tests are commonly done to determine if patients have osteoporosis. They provide good information to help determine if the bone is too weak for instrumentation in people suspected of having weak bone. I would recommend discussing this test with your spine surgeon. Good luck!
