Can a loose and infected molar be saved without extracting it? i have a painful molar that seems like it has become kind of loose. is there any way it can still be saved without having to pull it?

If : If there is mobility to the tooth one of two things are most likely happening: (1) there is a significant infection pushing the tooth out of the socket or (2) there is advanced gum disease causing significant bone loss. Only a clinical examination with x-rays can determine the exact nature of the problem and whether the tooth can saved.

The : The tooth could be loose from bone loss, an infection, a bite problem, a fracture or a host of other reasons. Depending upon the condition of the tooth, the cause and extent of the possible infection and the condition of the surrounding teeth, bone and gums, a dentist would be able to properly advise you not only if and how the tooth could be saved, but more importantly should you try to save it.

You're : You're being given good advise and accurate descriptions of what may be going on. It is impossible to diagnose the problem without an exam and an x-ray. Yes, under some circumstances this tooth can be saved, but can't tell yet. Call for a dental appointment asap!
