A member asked:

How painful will an upper molar extraction be? it's severely decayed and the nerve is infected.

Tolerable: The Dentist or (preferably) Oral Surgeon Specialist may first put you on antibiotics to limit the spread of infection. Before tooth is removed the area around the tooth will be fully anesthetized. Post surgically there will be some soreness, but that can be controlled with analgesics, until you feel better. Don't delay, have the infected tooth removed ASAP.

None: No pain with extraction. Dentist/oral surgeon will use local anesthesia or sedation. Pain after treated with pain meds. For best results, see oral surgeon.
