There : There is no easy answer to your challenge that millions struggle with. Consider a commercial weight loss program like weight watchers ( a no gimmick effective and low cost approach) and consider online calorie and energy tracking sites, some of which are free. There is no good evidence that drinking water helps with weigh loss but do not drink calories. Use non caloric beverages. Consider replacing some meals with low calorie frozen entrees. Start regular exercise like walking and modest muscle toning; start to move more. See the links below for more help.

Congratulations : Congratulations on at least recognizing that you would greatly benefit from losing weight. First bit of advise is to remind you that a combination of healthier eating (not dieting) and consistent exercise is going to do the trick. If you aim to lose about 25 pounds a year, within 2 years you will be at your healthy weight. Don't think of this process as a temporary struggle that will end once you reach your goal. Certainly a gym membership and a meeting with either a nutritionist or weight watchers/jenny craig would be a reasonable place to start. Good luck.

Diet & exercise: Make sure you exercise at least 30 minutes a day, don't skip meals, avoid soda, juice, dairy, alcohol and fried foods. Eat a healthy well balanced diet! also water, organic vegetable broth, green leafy vegetables, natural pickles, apples are great to fill you up so you dont feel hungry and they are very low in calories. Get at least 8 hours of sleep at night.
