Hi. : Hi. Please call your dentist's office and explain the new change in your symptoms. When you say leaking, I am assuming you have some type of purulent drainage? You need to describe this. Be prepared to let them know if you are in pain or if you have a fever as well. This information will be relayed to the dentist (unless you speak directly to the dentist) who will then determine what urgency he or she needs to attach to these sypmtoms. Take care.

There : There is always concern when an active infection is present in the mouth. The fact that the infection is draining indicates that your body is mounting a response to the infection as the pus is a collection of white blood cells that have come to the site of the infection to fight it. The fact that the infection is draining into the mouth lessens the possibility that it will spread deeper into the tissues. That being said, you need to contact your dentist immediately so that you can be placed on antibiotics and the source of the infection can be definitively treated. Lacking any other method to treat the infection, rinsing with salt water can be beneficial though it will not cure the infection.
