What causes an abscess? i have one in my arm and it's leaking puss non stop and i've been squeezing it to help get it out but it's a lot and hurts.

Drainage- stop squee: Abscess caused by an infection of bacteria. Squeezing usually makes it worse and spreads the infection into otherwise healthy areas. Drainage is the only treatment. Heat may help and keep it covered and clean. I will have patients wash it with hydrogen peroxide. If it is bad then see your doctor to have it opened and drained.

Collection of...: Dead tissue and pus. Can be caused by many things. If your treatment is inadequate you need to see a doctor to have it opened widely so it can drain adequately, to find out its cause, and to prevent the infection from spreading.
