Nasal : Nasal congestion commonly can occur when laying down to sleep. Nasal congestion can be due to many causes including nasal septum deviation, nasal valve compromise, turbinate hypertrophy/dysfunction, allergies, polyps, large adenoids etc. Seeing an ear nose and throat doctor will help in determining the cause(s) of your husband's nasal congestion and help direct appropriate therapy. I would use caution with over the counter nasal decongestant sprays, only for very temporary use, they are bad for the health of the nose when used long term. They are best avoided except in cases of acute, short term use.

I : I would recommend that you see your local primary care provider, allergist or ENT provider. There are many reasons for having a stuffy nose (allergies, cold/sinus infection, polyps, deviated septum etc). Saline irrigations, decongestants (oral and nasal), antihistamines are over-the-counter products that can be tried.
