Without : Without knowing her age ( i'm assuming she's a child) the most likely ( but not only) cause for her chronic mouth breathing and nasal obstruction would be enlarged adenoids which is lymphoid tissue situated in the back of the nasal cavity (nasopharynx). I would have her seen by an ENT who can specifically define the cause and offer corrective treatment.

I : I agree. Depending on age, this may be adenoid enlargement that is blocking the back of the nose (the nasopharynx). If this is more acute, you definitely cannot rule out allergies, but this would be less likely if she is younger than 5. Are the tonsils in the back of the throat also large? If your daughter is older (young adult or older) she may need evaluation for other nasal problems such as polyps--polyps in a young child are rare and need evaluation right away. If the problem persists, then an evaluation by an otolaryngologist (ENT) is needed.

It : It sounds on the surface like she has a blocked nose... Take her in to be evaluated for the reason behind the blockage and possible solutions to the problem.
