If : If pain gets worse and Ibuprofen by itself is not enough, taking two tylenol (acetaminophen) in addition to the Ibuprofen works well.

Honestly, : Honestly, an otc med will take the edge off but call for an immediate emergency appointment before it's out of control.

You : You can take the usual over the counter pain medications. Ibuprofen is generally the first choice followed by acetaminophen, and then aspirin. You may also want to call your dentist and see if he or she thinks you may need an antibiotic as well.

Call dentist: First call your dentist, tell them the pain is increasing, and see if they can see you sooner. Then try 1 200 mg advil every 4 hrs. If you need more help, try 1 200 mg advil + 1 350 mg tylenol (acetaminophen) every 4 hours. Do not take more frequently than recommended. If that doesn't work, and your dentist can't see you, perhaps they can refer you to an endodontist.
