Start : Start with a good, professional dental cleaning. Ask your dentist if they have a jet polishing machine. It is excellent in removing superficial stains. Immediately after that, any whitening process (i personally like chemically activated solutions) will work better and should give you a great result. Most independent studies show that laser whitening is no more effective than chemically activated methods. They all work. Ask your dentist what is his/her preferred method and follow through with it.

Of : Of course start with a good cleaning to remove surface stain. My presonal preference is in office whitening as opposed to otc types. The uv light activated systems are just as effective as the laser light system, so either will work to the same level of improvement.

Cleaning first: The first thing you should do is see a dentist and have a complete exam and have your teeth cleaned so the stains are removed. The you can whiten your teeth. There are a few ways to lighten your teeth. In office laser and light methods work quickly. Te take home tray lightening will work just as well but will take a little longer, but you can do touch ups as needed later on. Less coffee.

Zoom: Laser whitening works pretty good however you need to do bleaching trays after for touch up but before make sure you do do complete exam and x ray.

Remember: Remember, every whitening treatment done does become reversed with coffee, food stains, smoking, etc. But thin porcelain or lithium disilicate veneers won't have the same problems generally.. See your dentist for options.

Multiple ways...: If it has been a while since your last dental cleaning i would do that first. If it has been a while since your last dental exam i would do that as well. Your dentist can assist you with finding fillings that may be discolored and with what is discoloring your teeth. The dentist may provide you with several whitening options, with bonding, or with veneers. So much depends upon your condition.

See a dentist: By laser, do you mean a laser or zoom. Current trends like zoom or sapphire employ a uv light. Some things to consider: have your teeth cleaned by your dentist first. You would wouldn't wax your car without washing it. Have your dentist check you for cavities or major recession. If you have tetracycline stained teeth, bleaching my not work. Ask your dentist for more information.
