This : This depends if your left sided weakness is old from your stroke or new from the cervical spinal stenosis (tightness pinching on the spinal cord). If you are getting weaker from spinal cord compression then you may need surgery. You may benefit from a second opinion from another neurosurgeon or orthopedic spine surgeon. If your main problem is pain and not increased weakness then you may benefit from seeing a interventional pain doctor. Sometimes neck pain may be treated by steroid injections or nerve burning (rfa). Physiatry consult: If your cervical MRI was ok, you may benefit from a consultation with a physiatrist, also called a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist. Based on what you described, that may be your best option.
