4 days of intermittent stabbing chest pains. on right side of sternum, sometimes left. sometimes in my throat. no sob. went to dr, they gave me nexium (esomeprazole). no ekg. no chest x-ray (do i need one?)

Did nexium (esomeprazole) help?: Reflux was good bet given those symptoms. If Nexium (esomeprazole) helped after couple of days, Likely the answer. If not, more workup needed.

Depends: X-ray would only show abnormalities in some conditions like pneumonia or pneumothorax. In other conditions like reflux it will be normal. The doctor would order the exam if they think an X-ray could answer the question.
