Without : Without a full work up consisting of an examination, xrays and models it will be impossible to determine appropriate treatment options. It is not unusual to have crowding of the lower front teeth, particularly if they were not in perfect alignment to start with, as there is normal movement of teeth due to the action of the tongue and cheek muscles. Erupting third molars can also have an influence on this problem. I recommend that you start with your general dentist who may then refer you for further evaluation by an orthodontist and / or oral surgeon.

No: Straightening teeth is not what dentists are trained for. Its like asking an interist to do heart surgery. If you want your teeth straightened, go to an orthodontist.

See an orthodontist: Relapse is the result of expanding the distance between the canine teeth and altering the original arch form. For long term stability, these need to be maintained. The wisdom teeth have nothing to do with the relapse. They just happen to be developing at the same time as the relapse. The crowding is not from your wisdom teeth. See an orthodontist.

See the ortho: It is time to return to your orthodontic specialist to evaluate what can be done to correct the changes you described. Why the concern with seeing the orthodontist? They are the specialist expert for the issue - the go-to person for what you describe.

Misunderstood: Relapse of orthodontic treatment can be related to many factors, wisdom teeth are not the cause. Primarily, over expansion of the dental arch and most commonly lack of retainer use are the cause. So do not be averse to seeing an orthodontist if you desire correction. They have the proper training to help you. Life is full of compromises to your ideal version of how it should be. Specialist!

Probably not: You should seek an orthodontic consult. An orthodontist is specially trained to diagnose and treat these types of problems in the most efficient and best manner. Your wisdom teeth are just a coincidental occurrence with the changes you see in your front teeth. Studies have shown that changes in front teeth alignment begin in the late teens/early 20's.

Yes: Many general dentists utilize invisalign or other removable orthodontic appliances if the shifting that has occurred is not extreme. They feel confident and comfortable rendering this treatment. Remember, no matter who treats you, the only way to prevent shifting teeth is to wear retainers...Always.

Probably not: Lower anterior crowding means back teeth have drifted forward causing front teeth to move off of bone support. Wisdom teeth don't cause this, but get blamed because they need rx at about the same time the destabilization is noted. Clear aligners push front teeth even further forward, increasing destabilization. See a qualified orthodontist (not a gp) for evaluation and rx options.
