Do you have to keep giving a baby pain releiver after they recieve their first shots from the doctor. if so how much do you give them

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If : If your baby appears to be fussy or in pain after immunizations, it is ok to give a pain reliever, but you don't have to. Acetaminophen can be used for babies over 2 months and Ibuprofen can be used in babies older than 6 months. If your baby has a fever or is inconsolable, then you should call your child's doctor. Dosage depends on the baby's age and weight. The Acetaminophen dose is 7.5mg/lb and the Ibuprofen dose is 5mg/lb. For example: if your baby is 10 lbs then they can have 75mg of Acetaminophen every 4 hours or 50mg of Ibuprofen every 6 hours. If you are not sure how much medicine your baby should get or if you think your baby might be sick, call your doctor. Good luck!
