A : A root stump left behind after the crown (part of the tooth above the gums) has broken off due to decay or trauma is an infection waiting to happen, if it isn't infected already. Infections in the head and neck area spread quickly due to anatomical spaces (like ducts between vents) present. Encourage your friend to see a dentist immediately as an emergency.

I : I have no knowledge about herbal medicine fighting infection. The only solution you have at this time is to contact the treating dentist and request prescription of antibiotics or at least 10 days, until the final appointment for the surgery.

I : I think you should tell the dental office that this is an emergency, and if they wont see her sooner- find another office who will. She has a good chance of getting an infection, and need proper treatment. I have no reference to determine the helpfulness of herbal medicine.
