How is fibromyalgia typically treated?

Exercise, rest, meds: Most important is to gradually get into a regular exercise routine, also try to get enough sleep. Medicines are optional and help reduce pain from modifying the brain neurotransmitters. Cognitive behavioral therapy has been shown to work too - a form of psychotherapy.

Big Question: The treatment is so broad there is really no room to answer. Usually involes multiple disciplinary treatment (pharmacological, manual/physical therapy, psychological, injection therapy).

Pain pills: 3 meds are FDA approved & are non-opiate pain pills. None proven to improve sleep disorder, a sentinel FM symptom. Alternative therapies treat various FM causal factors: weight loss, improved muscle tone & mass via aquatherapy, improved sleep & pain control with cannabis, pelvic girdle stabilization with SIJ belt & Prolotherapy, & mindfulness therapy for depression.
