Usually : Usually a tooth would be dried before cementing the restoration. Let's hope that you are mistaken and the dentist cleaned and dried the tooth. Only he would know exactly what was done. My biggest concern right now is that you have pain on biting. Why don't you go back, have the bite checked, and express your concerns? It is very dificult for any of the panelists to second guess your provider since we were not there during the procedure. Hope this info helps.

Dr. : Dr. Davantzis is absolutely correct. It is absolutely impossible to give you an opinion without being there. A second opinion is in order. www.gotoapro.org will have the link to locating a prosthodontist near you. Go and have the expert evaluate the work.

Lebanon, The : Lebanon, the real issue here is the pain. Maybe the crown is slightly high and needs a minor adjustment. Or maybe the "crack" extended into the pulp (nerve of the tooth) or even beyond to the root. If the pulp is involved, patients usually report pain the pain wakes them or lingering temperature pain. These symptoms tend to mean root canal therapy. If the root is involved it becomes a hopeless prognosis and you will need an extraction. Since you only mentioned the biting pain, I am hopful for you and the tooth. Hope this is helpful, michael i. Not to worry: Your dentist most likely did what was necessary to get the tooth ready for the crown, despite what you felt, and nowadays there are cements that are just fine in the presence of moisture.
