You : You may have some blood-tinged nose drainage for a couple days after having a septoplasty. Avoiding blood thinning medications and taking it easy after surgery should help minimize this. I have patient wear a mustache dressing (a guaze placed below the nostrils) to catch any drainage, which helps minimize seeing much blood.

Normally : Normally drainage from the nose will last throughout the evening of surgery. It is very rare for this to last for "several days". You can minimize this by following your surgeon's instructions and avoiding medicines and foods that thin your blood before surgery.
